$29 Million Awarded in Boeing 737 MAX Crash Lawsuit
A Chicago jury has awarded US$29 million in damages to the family of Michael 'Mick' Ryan, an engineer who died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines crash.
The crash killed all 157 people on board and was one of two deadly Boeing 737 MAX crashes that claimed 346 lives. The vast majority of claims have been settled out of court with undisclosed terms, but Naoise Connolly Ryan's attorney Steven Marks had described his client as 'committed to seeking accountability and justice from a jury and not accepting money from Boeing directly.'
Ryan was 39 at the time of the crash and worked for the UN World Food Programme. He had experience in various crisis zones, including Liberia, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Ethiopia.
