$29 Million Awarded to Family of 737 MAX Crash Victim

Boeing has been ordered to pay $29 million in damages to the family of Michael Ryan, an engineer who was among the 157 people killed when a Boeing 737 MAX operating Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crashed on March 10, 2019.

Ryan's widow, Noize Connolly Ryan, had filed a lawsuit against Boeing in a U.S. court, and after a civil trial in Chicago, jurors awarded her $29 million in damages.

Boeing expressed its condolences to the families of all who lost loved ones in the crash and noted that nearly all similar lawsuits have been resolved through settlements, but families have the right to seek court hearings.
