$29 Million Awarded to Family of UN Employee Killed in 737 MAX Crash

A US jury has awarded $29 million in damages to the family of Michael 'Mick' Ryan, an Irish-born UN employee who died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX crash.

The lawsuit was brought by Naoise Connolly Ryan, Mick's widow, against Boeing.

Ryan worked as an engineer with the UN World Food Programme and had been deployed to various crisis zones, including Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Ethiopia.

This is one of the final remaining civil suits pending against Boeing following the 2018 and 2019 MAX crashes that killed 346 people in total.
