$3.1M Fine: Boeing Pays for Safety Violations After 737-9 Door Plug Blowout

Boeing has quietly paid $3.1 million in fines to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for safety violations that occurred between September 2023 and February 2024.

The fines were proposed by the FAA in September 2025, following a door plug blowout incident on a 737-9 MAX operated by Alaska Airlines in January 2024.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released its final report on the incident in July 2025, concluding that Boeing's failure to provide adequate training and oversight led to the blowout.
