49ers Should Target These 3 Defensive Free Agents This Offseason
The San Francisco 49ers are seeking to bolster their defense through free agency. To that end, three defensive players stand out as potential upgrades.
Trey Hendrickson is a top candidate on the edge rusher front. He has recorded 236 tackles, 81 sacks, and 25 forced fumbles in his career, showcasing both consistency and playmaking ability.
Hendrickson's addition would give the 49ers another elite edge presence to pair with Nick Bosa. This would pose a difficult decision for opposing offenses: double-team Bosa and leave Hendrickson one-on-one, or shift protection and allow Bosa more opportunities.
Andre Cisco is another player worth considering at safety. He has totaled 270 tackles, eight interceptions, and three forced fumbles in his career, demonstrating strong instincts and range in the secondary.
Cisco's ability to read quarterbacks and attack the football could help the 49ers generate more takeaways. Adding a true ball hawk to the back end would complement the pass rush and make the defense even more dangerous.
