$50 Million Settlement Reached in Antitrust Lawsuit Against Disney
A $50 million settlement has been reached in an antitrust lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company. Subscribers of YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream (including DirecTV Now and AT&T TV Now), and FuboTV may qualify for payment.
The lawsuit accused Disney of engaging in conduct to raise the prices of streaming live pay television. Specifically, the plaintiffs alleged that since taking control of Hulu in 2019, Disney had inflated prices marketwide by raising its own product prices.
Disney denied any wrongdoing but agreed to a partial settlement with YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream subscribers. Those who purchased subscriptions between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026, may qualify for payment.
The settlement fund will be split between two groups of members: those in 'repealer jurisdictions' (90% of the remaining funds) and those in 'non-repealer jurisdictions' (10%). Payments will be proportional to the length of subscription.
