$68 Million Class Action Settlement Proposed for Google Assistant Users
A multi-million-dollar class action settlement has been proposed by Google to resolve a lawsuit alleging its Google Assistant device recorded personal conversations without prompting. The company denies any wrongdoing, but has agreed to pay $68 million to settle the case.
The settlement affects individuals who purchased qualifying Google devices or lived in homes with devices equipped with Google Assistant between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026. Those eligible will receive a portion of the funds based on how many valid claims are filed and points they receive.
Purchasers can claim four points per device, up to three devices or 12 points, while those who used Google Assistant or resided in homes with devices will receive one point each.
