$68 Million Settlement Reached Over Google Assistant Recording Allegations
A multi-million-dollar class action settlement has been reached between Google and users of its Google Assistant device. The company agreed to pay $68 million to settle a lawsuit accusing its Google Assistant of recording personal conversations without prompting.
The suit alleged that this issue occurred across multiple devices over a decade, but Google denies any wrongdoing. If you were impacted, you could receive a portion of the settlement.
To qualify for payment, you can check your email for an email with the subject line 'Google Assistant Privacy Litigation Settlement.' Within that email, you will find a unique ID and PIN, which you'll need to file a claim. You can also submit a claim form online or via mail by August 27th.
