$80 Billion Fundraise: Alphabet Banks on AI Computing Infrastructure
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, announced a massive fundraising plan to raise $80 billion in equity capital. The move is aimed at supporting investments in its AI computing infrastructure as demand for its services continues to grow.
The funding will be used for general corporate purposes, including scaling AI compute and global infrastructure capacity to meet 'unprecedented customer demand.' Alphabet added that the company's strong growth in AI solutions and services has exceeded available supply, necessitating a significant increase in investment.
Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett, agreed to invest $10 billion through a private placement. The investment includes $5 billion each in Class A and Class C shares, priced at $351.81 and $348.20 per share, respectively.
