82-Year-Old Fister Jr. Leaves Behind Legacy of Family, Love
William DeNeale Fister Jr., an 81-year-old man from Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away on August 22, 2026. He had a life filled with experiences, stories, and family, having lived in various places including San José, Costa Rica; Managua, Nicaragua; Charlottesville, Virginia; Silverdale, Washington; Miami, Florida; and finally Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Fister was born on April 27, 1945, in San José, Costa Rica. He attended Fishburne Military School in Virginia as a young man and went on to have a varied professional life, owning the Ostuma Inn in Costa Rica and working with IDS American Express and Step One Financial Recovery.
Fister shared 56 years of marriage with his wife, Irene Fister, whom he met during this time. He was devoted to his family and loved planning meals for them, as it gave him an opportunity to bring everyone together. He also had a strong love for world history and politics, often watching Fox News and discussing current events.
The family will remember Fister's strong personality, strong opinions, and above all, his love for them. His passing has left a void in their lives, but they take comfort in the memories they shared with him.
