$83 Billion Tax Breaks for Six Corporate Giants Exceed US Education Budget
Senator Elizabeth Warren called out six major corporations for pocketing $83 billion in tax breaks while Americans struggled. The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy report found that these companies accounted for over 40% of all corporate tax breaks in 2025, exceeding the entire annual discretionary budget of the U.S. Department of Education.
The companies at the top of the list were Microsoft Corp., which received a record $18.7 billion in federal income tax breaks, followed closely by Alphabet Inc. with $18.4 billion, and Amazon.com, Inc. with $17.4 billion.
Warren also warned about corporate consolidation and its impact on everyday choices, calling for regulators to block mega-mergers. She has previously cited UnitedHealth Group Inc. and CVS Health Corp. as examples of vertical integration, advocating for the bipartisan Patients Before Monopolies Act.
