AAPL Jumps Amid Apple's AI Ambitions
Apple Inc's (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock price rose by almost 3% on Wednesday, defying the softer tone in the Technology sector. The Nasdaq was up 0.13%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.53%. Despite this, Apple's large-cap strength attracted buyers.
The company is facing regulatory changes in Europe and rising hardware costs, but investors are weighing these near-term pressures against its potential to build a stronger personalized AI business.
Apple agreed to modify its European App Store policies to address disputes with EU regulators. Starting October 1, the company will replace its Core Technology Fee with a 5% commission on digital transactions made outside the App Store and lower its standard European in-app purchase commission to 26%. Developers will also be allowed to offer alternative payment options.
Russell Investments senior portfolio manager Jordan McCall stated that renewed confidence in AI capital spending has led to a rotation towards companies more directly exposed to this area. However, Prime Capital Financial portfolio manager Clayton Allison still favors Apple's balance sheet and share buybacks.
