AAPL Publishes Book to Empower Women in Healthcare Leadership
The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) has published a new book titled 'The Women's Guide to Healthcare Leadership: The Why and The How.' Written by Patricia A. Gabow, MD, MACP, the book aims to empower women in healthcare leadership roles.
Gabow is a nationally recognized physician leader who served as CEO of Denver Health for 20 years before retiring in 2012. She has also written over 140 articles and three books on healthcare topics.
The book makes a documented case that American healthcare needs more women in leadership positions, citing evidence that shows women leaders produce better outcomes.
However, it also acknowledges the obstacles women face in their careers, including gender bias, the glass ceiling, the motherhood penalty, and pay inequity.
