Abandoned Child Finds Healing at McDonald's, Becomes Faith Leader
Pastor Ray Coleman's life was marked by hardship and abandonment as a child. At just 13 years old, he was kicked out of his mother's home in Paris, Texas after one beating too many. The house wasn't clean enough, his little sister's diaper wasn't changed, his little brother's shoes weren't tied.
Coleman fled to the nearby McDonald's, where he lived behind a dumpster for two weeks. Despite being on his own, he continued to attend school, and the principal let him stay in her office rather than endure teasing from other kids.
It was during this time that Coleman started praying, repeating 'Please help me. I don't know what to do.' Someone listened, and a stranger named Pastor Samuel Evans took him in and gave him a room and his own clothes.
