Abay Bank Unveils International Prepaid Visa Card for Secure Global Payments

Abay Bank has launched its Abay Classic International Prepaid Visa Card in partnership with Visa. The card allows customers to make secure international payments without carrying cash, and can be used at ATMs and point-of-sale terminals worldwide.

The launch is part of the bank's efforts to expand its digital banking services and improve customer convenience. According to Abay Bank CEO Yehuala Gessesse, the prepaid card is designed for a wide range of users, including businesses making overseas payments and individuals accessing global digital services.

Visa's Cluster Head for Eastern Africa and Country Manager for Ethiopia, Yared Endale, noted that digital payments play a critical role in economic growth and financial inclusion. The partnership between Abay Bank and Visa is expected to expand access to international financial services and strengthen the country's digital payments ecosystem.
