Abu Dhabi Courts Indian Tourists with Roadshows and Visa Offers
Abu Dhabi is stepping up its efforts to attract Indian tourists, which account for the largest share of hotel guest volumes in the emirate. The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) has been increasing outreach in India over the past few months, despite a decline in travel to West Asia due to security concerns.
The DCT held roadshows in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Chennai in July to showcase Abu Dhabi's attractions and experiences, including the upcoming Disneyland Abu Dhabi, Sphere Abu Dhabi, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi with its Harry Potter-themed experience.
A program has been introduced that allows Indian passport holders who book three hotel nights in Abu Dhabi to receive a complimentary UAE entry visa. MakeMyTrip has partnered with Abu Dhabi's DCT to offer this facility to travelers.
Tourism contributes around 13% to Abu Dhabi's GDP, and the emirate is seeking to diversify its oil-dependent economy. In 2025, Abu Dhabi welcomed 436,124 Indian hotel guests, representing a year-on-year growth of 22%. Research shows that 83% of Indian travelers intend to visit Abu Dhabi again.
