Accenture has acquired IBM's majority stake in V-TServices, a technology joint venture (JV) that manages UniCredit's banking infrastructure across Europe. The deal sees Accenture take on responsibility for delivering cloud, data, and artificial intelligence (AI) services to UniCredit across its 13-country European network.

IBM will continue to provide technology platforms, including IBM Z hardware and software, following the transaction. This partnership demonstrates how technology can become a strategic growth engine, according to Mauro Macchi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Accenture EMEA.

The deal grants UniCredit greater control over its technology direction, combining the resilience of mission-critical banking systems with the flexibility required for continuous digital innovation across a pan-European footprint. Accenture's acquisition of V-TServices positions it as the primary digital transformation partner for one of Europe's largest banks.
