Ackman Ditches Music for Payments, Streaming Giants

Pershing Square's Bill Ackman has made six new stock investments in Visa, Mastercard, Netflix, S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon.

The fund acquired a 10% stake in Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2021 for approximately $4 billion but later sold its entire remaining stake of around 80.6 million shares in April 2026.

Ackman previously described owning UMG as 'a blissfully comfortable and profitable place to be' due to the company's strong management team and royalty on music.
