Billionaire investor Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Capital Management took a significant stake in Microsoft earlier this year, investing $2.1 billion in the tech giant.

The investment came when Microsoft's stock price was trading at a lower-than-average P/E ratio of 21, making it an attractive buy for Ackman's firm.

Since then, Microsoft's stock has surged by over 25% in just a week, following its fiscal Q4 earnings release on July 29.

Earnings rose 18% and Azure cloud revenue blasted past estimates, rising 43%, compared to 40% the previous quarter.
