Ackman's Pershing Square Buys Netflix and Other Stocks Amid AI Fears
Pershing Square Holdings, a closed-end fund managed by billionaire investor Bill Ackman, has purchased Netflix and five other stocks. This move comes after Pershing was able to buy Netflix shares following its 50% decline earlier this year.
The company's interim report reveals that the fund initiated new positions in Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Visa, Mastercard, S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon.
Ackman and his team believe that concerns about disruption from artificial intelligence are misplaced. They argue that AI will help improve content recommendation capabilities and ad targeting for Netflix, giving it a distinct advantage in the streaming sector.
The fund's other buys include stocks of companies that sold off due to fears of AI disruption, such as Visa and Mastercard, which were affected by concerns about agentic AI and stablecoins creating more efficient payment routes.
