Ackman's Pershing Square Shifts Focus with Six New Portfolio Additions
Billionaire investor Bill Ackman has made significant changes to his investment portfolio, adding six new companies to Pershing Square's holdings. The move marks a pivot toward anticipated earnings growth in technology and financial services sectors.
The newly disclosed positions include Netflix, Visa, Mastercard, S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon. Ackman's previous position in Netflix ended in 2022 with a loss of over $400 million. Pershing Square now holds approximately 3.15 million shares of Netflix, representing about 4.9% of the portfolio as of June 30, 2026.
The addition of these companies aims to diversify beyond the fund's historical concentration in tech and consumer staples. By investing in businesses with strong recurring earnings growth, Ackman seeks to create long-term value for investors. However, this shift comes at a time when Pershing Square is facing pressure to improve its returns.
The firm reported a net loss of $1.94 billion and a 13% decline in Net Asset Value (NAV) per share in the first half of 2026. This performance lags significantly behind the S&P 500, which has seen gains over the same period.
