Adelaide Rises as Global Business Travel Hotspot
Adelaide has emerged as one of the world's top emerging international business travel destinations, according to American Express' latest Trendex: Business Travel Edition report. The city was named alongside Hyderabad in India and Manchester in the UK as the top three international destinations.
The report highlights a surge in corporate travel spending and commercial developments that are boosting Adelaide's business travel reputation. This growth is anchored by world-class innovation precincts, record-breaking international transit capacity, and major airline route expansions.
One key factor contributing to this growth is the expansion of major events, with 93% of business travellers saying they will attend significant events while travelling for work in 2026. This trend suggests that businesses are using travel to deepen relationships, create memorable client experiences, and win new business.
The report also notes that investing in areas like major events and AI innovation is essential for South Australia's growth, with Tourism Minister Emily Bourke stating that 'investing in areas like major events and AI innovation is investing in South Australia's growth'.
