Aerospace Dealmaking Takes Off as Production Schedules Stabilize
A surge in aerospace dealmaking is underway as Boeing and Airbus production schedules become more predictable. The number of commercial aerospace transactions this year has already reached 154, just shy of the record set in 2019.
The deals have a combined value of $14 billion so far, with most being strategic acquisitions or private equity firm takeovers of mid-sized suppliers.
GE Aerospace's recent $12 billion purchase of Consolidated Precision Products is one notable example. Parker Hannifin also acquired Circor's aerospace division for $2.6 billion in May.
Airbus and Boeing have both increased production since the pandemic, with Airbus aiming to deliver 870 jets this year, surpassing its pre-pandemic record. Boeing has stabilized production of its 737 MAX and is on track to meet its goals.
