Aguilar Stands Up for Free and Fair Elections in Nevada

Nevada Secretary of State Francisco 'Cisco' Aguilar pushed back against a demand from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide evidence that almost 16,000 non-citizens were registered to vote in Nevada.

The DHS letter was sent on July 17, 2026, and claimed that thousands of alleged noncitizens were on Nevada's voter rolls. However, Aguilar requested that the federal government provide proof to substantiate their claims, saying 'We want to better understand your claims that thousands of alleged noncitizens are on Nevada’s voter rolls, again, none of which you have identified.'

The DHS was unable to provide evidence to support their claim.

Aguilar's actions in this matter were seen as a defense of free and fair elections. He has modernized Nevada's election infrastructure, implemented a new statewide voter registration system, and championed bipartisan legislation to protect election workers from harassment and doxxing.
