AI Infrastructure Investment Expands Beyond Hyperscalers Amid Enterprise and Sovereign Demand
Goldman Sachs has released a report detailing the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure investment in July. According to the report, enterprise adoption and sovereign AI initiatives are growing alongside cloud providers.
The report highlights the increasing use of GPU backstop programs by neocloud providers, which should support the growth of AI cloud providers while improving compute availability for customers.
Key developments mentioned in the report include Meta's partnership with BlackRock to develop a 1 GW AI data centre campus in Texas and IREN signing customer contracts worth USD 2.8 billion.
The report also notes that sovereign efforts are underway, with governments investing in domestic AI capabilities and expanding local data centre infrastructure in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Croatia, and Indonesia.
