AI Investment on Track to Hit $1 Trillion by 2026
Goldman Sachs has predicted that global investment in artificial intelligence (AI) will reach approximately $1 trillion by 2026. According to the firm, this represents a significant increase from current levels, with AI investment expected to jump from 0.9% of the world's GDP in 2026 to 1.4% by 2028.
The US is set to be the top spender on AI, pouring in $581 billion alone. This estimate encompasses not just tech giants but also private firms and international players. Goldman Sachs notes that cumulative AI investment since 2022 could reach around $1.8 trillion by the end of 2026.
The firm points out several growth signals, including increased semiconductor manufacturing equipment imports in Taiwan and South Korea, as well as higher GPU rental costs. While tracking every dollar spent on AI can be challenging due to overlapping reports, Goldman Sachs states that its numbers hold up when checked against company earnings and trade data.
