AI Revolutionizes Sports Viewing: Fans Embrace Digital Platforms and AI-Powered Insights
IBM has released research findings that show a significant increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) among sports fans. According to the study, AI usage among surveyed sports fans climbed from 52% to 69% within a year.
The rise of AI in sports is part of a larger shift towards digital sports consumption, with streaming services and sports apps becoming increasingly popular. The survey found that 72% of respondents use sports apps, with 40% valuing the convenience of having information gathered in one location.
However, IBM's research also shows that increasing adoption does not automatically translate into greater trust. Fans appear to be concerned about the accuracy of AI-generated sports information, with 59% of respondents saying they trusted AI-generated sports content, down from 63% a year earlier.
The study suggests that accuracy is the biggest concern for fans, with 44% placing more importance on accurate sports information than receiving it quickly. This creates an important challenge for companies adding generative AI to sports platforms.
