AI Skills Surge in Cybersecurity Job Postings Amid Talent Shortage
Cybersecurity job postings requiring AI skills have doubled in the G7 economies over the past year, according to a report from the AI Workforce Consortium. In October 2025 and March 2026, 28.5% of cybersecurity job postings asked for AI skills, up from 14.2% in the same period the previous year.
The median advertised salary in AI-skill cybersecurity roles is 14.9% higher than for all cybersecurity postings, according to Lightcast data for the US. The report also highlights a shift in technical requirements, with agent supervision and prompt-injection recognition becoming increasingly important.
Cisco's Tier 1 security operations analyst role is being reshaped, with agents handling alert triage and threat-intelligence correlation. However, this creates a structural problem, as junior analysts learn judgment through manual tasks, which are now being automated.
