Air Canada Expands European Network with 14 New Routes

Air Canada has added 14 new non-stop routes to Europe this year and next. The carrier's Montreal hub is leading the expansion, with seven new routes added from Montréal, Trudeau International Airport (YUL).

The airline launched flights to Catania in Italy, Nantes in France, and Palma de Mallorca in Spain in June using a Boeing 787-8. However, due to performance concerns, the A321XLR was replaced by the larger aircraft on the Palma route.

Air Canada's Toronto passengers will have to wait until June of next year for its remaining new European routes to launch from Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Two of these will use the Airbus A321XLR and their destinations are Oslo in Norway and Shannon in Ireland. Meanwhile, the carrier has opted for the larger A330-300 on its new route from Toronto to Nice in France.

Air Canada also added a second European route from Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) this year, launching seasonal flights to Brussels Airport (BRU) in Belgium using the Boeing 737 MAX 8. The Brussels flights operated three times a week from June to September and are set to return next June.
