Air Force Awards $131 Billion Contract to Boeing for F-15 Production
The US Air Force has awarded Boeing a massive contract worth up to $131.23 billion to produce, modernize, and sustain F-15 fighters for both domestic and foreign customers through 2037.
The agreement, dubbed the 'F-15 Eagle Crest' contract, allows the Air Force to place orders over time rather than buying a fixed number of aircraft upfront.
According to the source, the contract covers work in St. Louis, where Boeing will perform production, upgrades, retrofits, sustainment, and depot support for the F-15 fleet.
The notice also mentions that the Air Force aims to stand up organic depot maintenance, enabling its own depots to perform heavy overhauls instead of relying solely on Boeing.
It's worth noting that the contract does not commit the government to spend the entire $131.23 billion; it merely caps what the Air Force may order over the life of the agreement.
