Air India Fuel Switch Probe Finds No Fault in Boeing 787
A recent investigation into an Air India flight has found no fault in the Boeing 787 fuel switch, which was at the center of a probe following a reported defect on a London Heathrow to Bengaluru flight in February. The finding is reassuring but not conclusive, as the complete thrust control module is still being inspected.
The incident occurred during engine start when the left fuel control switch did not remain positively latched in the 'RUN' position twice, but latched correctly on the third attempt. The crew confirmed the switch was secure and completed the flight without incident.
India's aviation regulator reported no abnormalities in the tested switch, while also advising Air India to circulate Boeing's recommended operating procedure for the fuel control switch.
