Air India Sends Dreamliner to Shanghai for Retrofitting
Air India has sent one of its legacy Boeing 787-8 aircraft to Boeing's facility in Shanghai, China as part of its retrofit program. This move is aimed at expediting the revamp of Air India's wide-body fleet.
The airline has a total of 26 legacy Dreamliners, with three already having undergone retrofitting. Two more are currently undergoing the process at Victorville in the US and one at Shanghai. The retrofit program has been delayed due to supply chain issues.
Air India's wide-body fleet consists of 60 aircraft, including B787s, B777s, and A350s. The airline expects to induct over 100 new planes in the next two years, with 16 Boeing 787-8 aircraft slated for retrofitting in 2027.
