Air India Sends Dreamliners to Shanghai for Retrofit

Air India has started sending its legacy B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft to Boeing's Shanghai facility for retrofit, aiming to expedite the revamp of its wide-body fleet. The move marks a change from the usual practice of sending planes to Victorville in the US.

According to officials, one Boeing 787-8 plane has already been sent to the Shanghai facility. With this additional option, Air India hopes to speed up the retrofitting process for these planes.

The airline has 26 legacy Dreamliners, with three having undergone successful retrofits so far. Two more are currently undergoing work at Victorville and another one at Shanghai.
