Air India Takes Delivery of Fourth Custom-Made Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
Air India has taken delivery of its fourth custom-made Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft, VT-AWD, touched down in Delhi after a journey from Boeing's factory in Everett.
The new plane is part of Air India's fleet modernisation programme and will serve passengers on medium- and long-haul routes. It features bespoke cabin interiors installed directly on Boeing's production line.
Air India has received six aircraft this year, including VT-AWD, as part of its plan to receive a total of 12 widebody aircraft by the end of 2026. The airline is also retrofitting 26 of its legacy Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with upgraded cabins and refreshed interiors.
