Airborne Unit Climbs Currahee Mountain on 25th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

An Airborne Reserve Unit and community members climbed Currahee Mountain on September 11 to honor those who perished in the 9/11 attacks. The event was organized by Darren Cinatl, a volunteer at Camp Toccoa at Currahee, Inc., and President of the All-Airborne Battalion.

The climb began at 8:46 a.m., marking the time when the first plane struck the World Trade Center Tower. Approximately 60 military members and 40 community members participated in the event, including local first responders who made the climb while wearing full turnout gear.

Jonathan Merck, First Sergeant for the 310th Psychological Operations Company at Fort Gillem, Georgia, stated that the event was a way to honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11. Staff Sergeant Adam Rodgers added that it was a day to strengthen unit bonds and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by others.
