Airbus and Boeing Deliveries Slow Down Amid Widebody Inventory Clearances
Narrowbody commercial aircraft production continued its upward trend in July 2026, reaching 113 units compared to 109 in June. This growth was driven by high-rate programs such as the A320neo and 737 MAX, which have stabilized at or above their target rates.
Widebody production, however, saw a slight increase to 20 units from 19 in both May and June. The average lead time for widebodies surged dramatically to approximately 150 days, mainly due to the delivery of stored 787 inventory dating back to 2020. Excluding these aircraft, freshly produced 787s had an average lead time of just 17 days.
According to Forecast International's tracking data, Airbus delivered an estimated 73 aircraft in July, down from 89 in June. Boeing handed over around 51 units, a decrease from the 64 deliveries recorded in June.
