Airbus Beats Boeing in Commercial Aircraft Deliveries for Second Quarter

The commercial aircraft market has been dominated by Airbus and Boeing for decades. However, due to supply chain problems and production issues, both manufacturers have order backlogs that stretch over a decade.

Boeing led in deliveries during the first quarter of 2026, but Airbus regained the lead by the end of May. The European manufacturer delivered 81 aircraft to 45 customers in May, a 59% increase from the same month in 2025.

Airbus' delivery pace continued to improve in June, with 89 aircraft handed over to customers. Single-aisle aircraft accounted for the majority of deliveries during this period.

The 737 MAX has been a major challenge for Boeing since its grounding in 2018 and 2019. However, the company has focused on improving manufacturing processes and increasing output from the program.
