Airbus Takes Lead in Aircraft Deliveries Amid Supply Chain Improvements

After a strong second quarter, Airbus has overtaken Boeing in aircraft deliveries by mid-2026. The shift reflects supply chain improvements and resumed Chinese handovers.

According to reports, Airbus delivered 351 aircraft in the first half of 2026, led by 190 A320neos. In contrast, Boeing handed over 307 jets, mostly 737 MAX models.

The turning point came in May when Airbus regained the lead after resolving administrative delays affecting 20 planes bound for China. June deliveries hit 89, its highest monthly total that year.

Boeing's recovery was constrained by lingering production limits and a 2024 machinists' strike. Engine supply issues still affect narrowbody output, though supplier performance improved in Q2.
