Airlines Ditch Canned Juice Amid Packaging Shortages

Delta and JetBlue are facing juice shortages on domestic flights due to packaging issues. The airlines use Minute Maid, a Coca-Cola brand, but suppliers are struggling with aluminum can constraints, not fruit shortages. JetBlue has switched to serving apple juice from one-liter cartons instead of cans and dropped cranberry cocktails altogether.

Delta's supply varies by airport, with some flights offering no juice at all while first class passengers get priority. International flights remain unaffected by the issue.

The disruption is likely due to can manufacturers operating near full capacity, making it difficult to scale up production quickly and cheaply. Other major carriers using Minute Maid have not reported similar issues.
