Akasa Air has signed a sale-and-leaseback agreement with Avolon for up to seven Boeing 737-8-200s, expanding its fleet of high-density MAX variants. The deal marks the third transaction between the Indian airline and Dublin-based lessor Avolon.

The sale-and-leaseback arrangement allows Akasa Air to raise capital without giving up use of the aircraft, transferring ownership to the leasing company.

Akasa currently operates 40 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, including 17 737-8-200s. The airline has one of the largest 737 MAX orderbooks among Indian carriers, with 226 aircraft listed on Boeing's current order data.
