Aker Solutions and Microsoft Join Forces on Global Carbon Capture and Storage
Aker Solutions and Microsoft have formed an alliance to accelerate global carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects. The partnership aims to combine engineering expertise, digital technologies, AI, and monitoring capabilities to support project development, reduce execution risk, and strengthen investment readiness.
Aker Solutions will work with developers, CO2 emitters, transport and storage providers, governments, and others on ways to accelerate CCS and CDR projects. Microsoft will focus on relevant digital technologies, data, AI, monitoring, reporting, and verification, combined with Aker Solutions' techno-economic advisory services and engineering, procurement, and construction capabilities.
The two companies plan to offer integrated engineering and execution support for selected CCS and CDR projects from early-stage feasibility through to operations. This partnership is a significant step towards mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
