Aker Solutions Bolsters CCS & CDR Efforts with Microsoft Partnership
Aker Solutions has teamed up with Microsoft to accelerate carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects.
The Norwegian tech firm will combine its techno-economic advisory services and end-to-end engineering, procurement, and construction capabilities with Microsoft's expertise in digital technologies, data, artificial intelligence (AI), monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), and carbon markets.
Aker Solutions' CEO Kjetel Digre said the collaboration aims to help project developers 'navigate complexity and strengthen business cases' as they move from concept to reality.
Microsoft has pledged to become carbon negative by 2030 and remove its historical emissions by 2050, despite a recent increase in its greenhouse gas footprint of 25% year-on-year.
