Alphabet Overtakes Apple in Market Cap Amid AI Boom

The AI landscape has undergone significant changes, with Alphabet overtaking Apple in market capitalization on July 31. Alphabet's stock surged 6.73% to close at $356.65, while Apple saw its shares drop by 7.35% to $308.91.

The shift is attributed to Alphabet's growth prospects in cloud computing and AI businesses, as well as the unveiling of Google DeepMind's next-generation robotics AI model, Gemini Robotics 2. This model uses a single system to control a humanoid robot's full-body movements and autonomously plans multi-step tasks.

Nvidia reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable company after Apple's market value fell by approximately $359 billion in a single day. Market observers note that Apple's challenge lies in its capital expenditure being far below peers, with a lack of direct revenue stream benefiting from AI computing demand.
