Alphabet is tapping into debt markets once again to fund its artificial intelligence spending. The Google parent company plans to raise between $20 billion and $25 billion through a US bond offering, with investors showing robust demand for the debt.

The latest fundraising comes after Alphabet projected elevated capital expenditure of between $195 billion and $205 billion for 2026, largely driven by AI infrastructure investments. Despite this, investor appetite for Alphabet's debt remains strong, with about $115 billion in orders for the bond sale.

This trend is not unique to Alphabet. According to a Reuters analysis of LSEG data, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and Oracle collectively issued around $194 billion of bonds during 2026 through July 7, representing a 79% increase from roughly $108 billion during the same period in 2025.

Industry estimates suggest Big Tech companies are expected to spend over $730 billion this year on AI infrastructure, with debt financing becoming an increasingly important funding source as AI investment cycles stretch over several years before generating meaningful returns.
