Alphabet Poised to Surpass Apple in $5 Trillion Market Capitalization Race
The tech giants Apple and Alphabet are neck and neck in the race to reach a $5 trillion market capitalization. While both companies have made significant strides, Alphabet's core business is thriving with Google Search revenue increasing by 17% year-over-year and its cloud computing business, Google Cloud, delivering an impressive 82% revenue growth.
However, Apple faces a major headwind in the form of rising memory chip prices. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook warned investors that this issue could affect Apple's business significantly, forcing the company to either raise prices or absorb the cost, which would impact its profitability.
Alphabet's growth rate is expected to persist due to its strong data center capital expenditures and AI computing demand. In contrast, Apple trades at a premium to Alphabet, making it difficult for investors to accurately value the stock. Based on operating cash flow, Apple's true size is inflated by this premium.
