Alphabet Pours $205 Billion into AI Infrastructure Amid Revenue Growth
Alphabet's massive investment in AI has sparked both optimism and concern among investors. The company plans to spend up to $205 billion on capital expenditures this year, with a focus on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
This is on top of last year's capex spending of $91 billion. While Alphabet has taken on debt, with over $114 billion in liabilities since the start of 2025, it still maintains significant liquidity, with more than $242 billion available.
The investment appears to be paying off, as Google's AI-driven products now reach over 2.5 billion monthly users through its AI Overviews. Additionally, Alphabet's ad revenue grew by 14% year over year in Q2, reaching $82 billion.
While there is risk involved with such high spending, the potential for growth justifies it. Google Cloud's revenue increased by 82% year over year in Q2, indicating that investments have boosted its revenue.
