Alphabet Seeks Up to $25 Billion in Debt Financing for AI Push
Alphabet's financial push into artificial intelligence has reached new heights as it returns to debt markets for up to $25 billion. The move underscores the significant investments being made by Big Tech companies in AI, with Alphabet's parent seeking fresh flexibility to accelerate data-center construction and boost cloud revenue.
The borrowing includes 10 tranches with maturities ranging from two to 40 years, allowing Alphabet to raise between $20 billion and $25 billion. This follows several large global bond sales earlier in 2026, highlighting the company's increased reliance on debt financing.
Alphabet has already invested heavily in AI infrastructure, with customer demand exceeding available computing capacity. The company recently lifted its full-year capital-expenditure forecast to $195 billion to $205 billion due to strong demand for servers, data centers, and networking equipment supporting AI.
The investment is paying off, with Google Cloud revenue surging 82% to $24.8 billion in the second quarter. Cloud operating income more than tripled to $8.8 billion, indicating that Alphabet's AI push is generating significant revenue.
