Alphabet Surpasses IBM in AI Revenue Growth
Alphabet and IBM are two tech giants competing in the artificial intelligence sector. Recent financial disclosures show that Alphabet has a larger and more consistently growing revenue base compared to IBM.
According to data from company filings, Alphabet generated a reliable upward trajectory over the measured period, despite mild seasonal quarter-over-quarter dips. In contrast, IBM maintained a persistently volatile and oscillating revenue pattern without clear acceleration.
The revenue gap between the two companies continues to widen, with Alphabet's Q2 sales reaching $119.8 billion, representing a 24% increase from 2025. This is attributed to the company's success with its AI efforts, particularly in its Google Cloud business, which experienced 82% year-over-year growth.
In contrast, IBM reported a 13% net income margin for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and cut its 2026 full-year guidance from more than 5% year-over-year growth to between 4% and 5%. The slowdown is due to a sales decline in its consulting and hardware businesses.
