Amazon AI Investments Fuel Q2 Profit Growth Amid Valuation Scrutiny
Amazon's second-quarter profit was boosted by its AI investments, which added $53.4 billion in pretax non-operating income.
The majority of this gain is attributed to Amazon's stake in Anthropic, a company that specializes in artificial intelligence.
Despite the significant impact of these investments on the company's bottom line, Amazon's underlying engine remains strong.
Sales jumped 20% to $200.6 billion, operating income reached $27.5 billion, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) revenue surged 37% to $42.2 billion.
However, investors are taking a closer look at the company's valuation, which is currently 5.8% above its GF Value estimate of $246.06.
AWS represents a significant source of growth for Amazon, as customers continue to invest in the company's cloud and AI infrastructure.
