Amazon Aims for Sky-High Drone Delivery Expansion Across America
Amazon's drone delivery program is expanding rapidly across the US, with plans to reach nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of the year. This marks a significant increase from the current 11 metropolitan areas where the service is available.
The e-commerce giant aims to reduce two-day delivery times to mere minutes, with drones capable of transporting packages weighing up to 5 pounds and flying as far as 7.5 miles from their home bases.
Amazon has already completed hundreds of thousands of drone deliveries this year, with a goal of reaching 1 million by the end of the year. The company will be sharing the skies with its rival, Walmart's partner Wing, which aims to reach 40 million Americans by the end of next year.
